The historic Galician event, which this year will celebrate its 33rd edition, will take place from August 15 to 23 at Pantín beach, Valdoviño. This will undoubtedly be the most special edition, since, after several months in confinement, Valdoviño will host one of the first sporting events with audience on-site within the new normality in Spain.
This morning, at the Casa da Cultura del Concello de Valdoviño, the last meeting took place between the event’s director and coordinator, Marcos Rodríguez and Andrés Otero, respectively, and the mayor, Alberto González, the councillors for Health, Ana Belén Rodríguez; Sports, Sergio Saavedra; Services, Benito Vega, and more Works, Germán Gómez. Along with them, representatives of the San Lorenzo Clinic, involved in the development of preventive action protocols against COVID-19. In this, the security measures and logistics of the event were discussed to make it as safe as possible.
In this edition, the capacity of attendees will be considerably reduced, since each person who wishes to attend must first register by completing a form that can be found on the official website (www.classicsurfpro.com). Those who register will receive a QR code that must be presented on the mobile or printed and that will serve for the whole competition if the capacity is not complete already. Thus, it will be possible to control not only the number of attendees but their identity and the length of stay. All data will be used by the health authorities. This form will be available from Wednesday, August 5.
Some of the rules to access will be the mandatory use of a mask and frequent hand cleaning. Besides, during the competition days, the organization will report the current regulations.
We will also count with the collaboration of the Local Police, Civil Guard and Civil Protection, in addition to that in this edition, the competition hours will be reduced, but, the show is guaranteed.
The neighbours of Valdoviño have always welcomed the event, and this year will be no less since it has to be thanked that they have given up three plots for temporary parking for the days of competition. Likewise, following the procedures carried out by the local administration before the Xunta, the concession company of the public transport service Monbús activated a line to O Rodo beach, which is expected to favour transport to the beach.
We must remember that it will be mandatory to comply with the established rules and to have an individual responsibility to be able to enjoy the ABANCA Pantín Classic Galicia Pro one more year, the countdown has already begun.
