  • Janire González Etxabarri and Aelan Vaast, and Yago Domínguez and Noa Dupouy will face each other in the finals.
  • The action will continue from 18:00h.

Good wave conditions continue at Praia de Doniños this morning when the semifinals in the men’s and women’s categories have been disputed. Competitors continue giving their best and demonstrating their high competitive level looking for the coveted pass to the final.

Janire Gonzalez Etxabarri won the first pass to the final, after beating Lucia Machado from the Canary Islands. The Basque player arrived at Doniños ready to defend her title and advanced unstoppably to reach the final.

The second women’s semifinal faced the French Aelan Vaast and Juliette Lacome. After a very close series, it was Aelan Vasst who advanced to the final. She commented that, although the waves were difficult, she knew how to choose them well to be able to score.

In the men’s category, the Basques Keoni Lasa and Yago Domínguez faced each other. Finally, it was Yago Dominguez who won with a spectacular wave of 9.40 out of 10. “My heat was against a friend, he has been very strong during the competition, and although I started a little slow, I managed to recover with good waves and now I go to the final with everything,” he said.

The last pass to the final went to Frenchman Noa Dupouy who battled with Frenchman Sam Piter. Both got very good scores, but an incredible 9.33 wave put Noa Dupoy in the lead and secured his spot in the final. “Sam is a really good friend, we usually surf together at home, it was great to be with him in the semi-final. Now I’m focused on the final,” he said.

The finals will start at 18:00h, starting with the women’s category.
