Cabreiroá Pro Las Américas 2020 Fires UP

The waves exceeded expectations and the weather conditions did not disappoint leaving a great start to the competition.

The best wave of the day went to Cristian Portelli, with 8,50 points over 10 points.

The show began at Playa de las Américas, Arona, with the start of the Cabreiroá Pro Las Américas 2020 competition, the first stop in Spain of the World Tour League European Tour (WSL).

The men’s category has been responsible for opening the competition on time, at 8:30 a.m. The first clashes made clear the determination of surfers and the very high level they will offer during the days of competition, which will be from February 3 to 9.

More than 100 male athletes participate today in one of the World Surf League (WSL) events with the largest presence of national surfers, especially Canarian, which has great international recognition. Today we saw the presence of competitors coming from all over the world to meet in one of the best waves of the Canary archipelago.

In this first part of the day the first five heats of the first round were completed and the best wave of the morning was awarded by Cristian Portelli with a score of 8.50 points over 10 points, while the best sum was won by Endika Garai with a total of 15.34 points (his best two waves).

This event did not miss the most prominent surfers nationwide like Jonathan Gonzalez who commented that today, even though the sea is a bit inconsistent, it is one of the best wave days of the week. Even with the gaps between wave series, Gonzalez got a great wave in the last minutes with which he won the pass to the next round.

The first classified for the second round of Cabreiroá Pro Las Américas 2020, are Jonathan González (Spain), Martim Carrasco (Portugal), Nacho Sebastia (Spain), Mael Laborde (France), Guilherme Fonseca (Portugal), Robertney Barros (Cape Verde), Endika Garai (Spain), Teva Bouchgua (France), Cristian Portelli (Sweden) and Joao Vidal (Portugal).

The best possible start, great competitive level, outstanding waves, and a better atmosphere on the beach of Las Américas, Arona, Tenerife.
