Cabreiroá Pro Las Américas 2020 Presentation

The Vulcano Hotel & UP! The Spring Hotels chain hosted on January 30, at 11:00 a.m., the official presentation of the Cabreiroá Pro Las Américas 2020, the first stop of the European Tour of the World Surf League (WSL) in Spain.

Once again Tenerife will welcome athletes from all over the world in both the male and female categories, in the week of February 3 to 9 in Playa de Las Américas, Arona, Tenerife, Canary Islands.

In the event where both sponsors, organizers and competitors of the event have been present, it was emphasized the great opportunity that Cabreiroá Pro Las Américas represents, not only nationally, but internationally in both the field of surfing and tourism.

They were present the delegate advisor of Tourism of Tenerife David Miguel Pérez, who commented that this is “a cross-sectional test to many tourist areas, due to sustainability, the respect of the competitors for the environment and the awareness workshops that will take place during the test days.” Laura Esther Castro Hernández, Insular Director of Sports, declared that the Cabreiroá Pro Las Américas 2020 “is a great legacy for the athletes of the island, so they have the opportunity to be bastions of the island and promote this sport, which generates a lot of wealth, not only economically but on a personal and social level for the population of Tenerife ”.

Miguel Villaroya, general director of Spring Hotels said that “one of our responsibilities is to promote all-natural attributes in the Canary Islands, and surfing is a driver, a fundamental element that generates quality content.” For his part, Lorenzo Spinelli, commercial director of Fred Olsen, conveyed “we are talking about an international event that is related to the sea, sport, healthy life, which connects quite a lot with us”; Paloma Leis, managing director of Vithas Canarias, highlighted one of the most important ideals exposed today, the lifestyle that accompanies surfing, and that is present in this type of events, which “allows you to demonstrate that you share the values of sport with the participants, the assistants, the families that are values that Vithas wants to show in their culture with their patients and workers: solidarity, commitment, companionship, effort, respect, equality. ”

Likewise, José Alberto Delgado Domínguez, Councilor of the Government Area for Tourism Promotion and Communication pointed out that “the good weather, our eternal spring, our wave, being one of the best in the world, are all added values to our island, and Arona, as an international destination ”. 

The President of the Canary Surf Federation and event organizer, Ángel Lobo commented that “it is a great bet that the Canary Surf Federation is at the level of organizing international championships because we have to accompany the athletes, allowing them to compete in front of its people and its waves. ”

Also, the competitors Daniela Boldini, the current champion, who declared “that there is a competition of this level on my beach, in my wave it is a great opportunity, not only for me but for all the Canaries, to be able to participate in an event like this at home.”

Garazi Sánchez, an international athlete, said that “it is great to be able to start the season in a wave of this quality, being at the beginning of the year and in Tenerife with such a good climate.”

Mention that Yaiza Castilla Herrera, Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, could not attend the presentation of the event due to agenda problems.
