CARLA MORERA DE LA VALL AND FRANCISCO ORDONHAS, CHAMPION AND WINNER OF THE EDOMMO JUNIOR PRO RAZO 2025, BY ESPAZO NATURE

Razo, Carballo, September 27.– Carla Morera de la Vall, a 14-year-old surfer from Lanzarote, and Portuguese surfer Francisco Ordonhas were crowned today as the queen and king of Razo at the international WSL (World Surf League) championship, the Professional Surfing World League, which has been held since last Wednesday in the waters of Carballo, in a stunning corner of the Galician coast.

Challenging surfing conditions in a sea with small waves set the stage for the six final heats this Saturday at the Edommo Junior Pro Razo, by Espazo Nature, which began at 9 a.m. and concluded after midday with the awards ceremony for the 2025 edition winners, supported by families, coaches, local spectators, authorities, and sponsors.

In the women’s category, the final of this JQS 1000 event of the WSL, the Professional Surfing World League, was headlined by Carla Morera de la Vall (2011), a very young surfer from the Canary Islands who delivered an outstanding performance with remarkable progress throughout the season. Second place went to Portuguese surfer Maria Dias, also very strong throughout the competition, while Enara Palacios (Donostia) finished third and French surfer Lilou Rumiel came in fourth.

In the men’s division, the winner was Francisco Ordonhas (Cascais, 2005), who managed to catch six waves, ahead of Asturian surfer Alfonso Suárez –winner of the Gadis Surf Festival Ferrol last June.

Basque surfer Eder Fuentes placed third and Conor Donegan was fourth in the final. All competitors expressed their gratitude for the support of their families and coaches on the beach. “Last year I was European champion here, but this is my first victory in a Junior event, so this beach is very special. It was a junior event with challenging conditions for surfing, but I tried to make the most of it,” Ordonhas explained afterwards.

For her part, De la Vall expressed her happiness with this victory, which adds to other achievements as she aims to qualify for the World Championship Tour in the Philippines in January 2026. “This year has been incredible and I’m super happy,” said a very young Carla, who has achieved two victories and a second place this junior season.

The awards ceremony was attended by the mayor of Carballo, Evencio Ferrero; on behalf of the Xunta, the Minister of Finance, Miguel Corgos; and Xosé Regueira, Vice President of the A Coruña Provincial Council, along with Alberto Freire (Edommo), Laura Vázquez (Espazo Nature), Robin Mueller (Ventores) and Julio Mouriño (Intermax Tecnologías), three of our private sponsors.
