FRENCH MAUD LE CAR AND PAULINE ADO LEAD THE WAY TO THE QUARTERFINALS

  • The French Maud Le Car got the best score of the event to date with a total of 15.83 points.
  • Pauline Ado and Janire González Etxabarri advanced with very strong scores.

The women’s category closed the second day of competition with the qualifying round for the quarterfinals of the 35th anniversary of the ABANCA PANTÍN CLASSIC GALICIA PRO.

The first two to qualify for the quarterfinals were Portugal’s Yolanda Hopkins and Teresa Bonvalot. These two young surfers have been great protagonists during the day today, getting some of the best total scores. Yolanda Hopkins commented that she returns to Pantín ready to conquer and to give her best to achieve the best possible scores.

The following riders to qualify were the French Maud Le Car and Pauline Ado. Maud Le Car obtained the best event score so far, with a total of 15.83 points. About her heat, she commented that she felt comfortable, knows Pantín Beach well, and is excited to compete here again.

In the third heat, it was Great Britain’s Alys Barton and Germany’s Rachel Presti who imposed themselves and got the pass to the quarterfinals. In her second time competing in Pantín, Alys Barton moves first in her heat. “I love Pantin, it’s such a great place to be and the waves are pumping,” she said.

The last heat ranked the Basque Janire González Etxabarri and the Spaniard Lucía Martiño. Janire Gonzalez Etxabarri beat the Spaniard and advanced in the first place. “I am very happy to be back in Pantín, especially on the 35th anniversary. Last heat of the day and I finish first, I can’t ask for more”.

Thus ends a great second day of competition of the World Surf League (WSL) event, with the women’s category leaving incredible images of their performances. Tomorrow the action returns to Pantín Beach starting at 8:00 a.m. with the men’s category, and at 9:00 a.m. with the women’s category.
