JANIRE GONZÁLEZ ETXABARRI AND ADUR AMATRIAIN CROWNED AT GADIS JUNIOR PRO FERROL 2021

After a day in which the expectation to know who would be crowned as champions has not stopped increasing, they were Janire González Etxabarri and Adur Amatriain who got with the victory of the first edition of GADIS JUNIOR PRO FERROL 2021, event of the Junior Qualifying Series of the World Surf League (WSL).
 
In the female category, the final was disputed between the Basque Janire González Etxabarri, the Canarian Lucía Machado, the Portuguese Francisca Veselko and the French Hina-Maria Conradi.
 
The four finalists complete a great event, in which they excelled with high scores, but finally, after a close final, it was the Basque surfer who achieved the best score with 12.06 total points. On her part, she expressed that with this victory she has fulfilled her objective since this test is essential to qualify for the European title and it has been a pleasure to win in Doniños. She also thanked “all the people who have supported and accompanied me, hard work brings its reward and this championship has been proof of that.”
 
Finally, Francisca Veselko finished as runner-up, with 9.87 total points, followed by Lucía Machado, who finished in the third position with 9.20 points and in fourth place Hina-Maria Conradi with 9.13 accumulated points.
 
In the men’s category, the victory was disputed between the Basque Adur Amatriain, the French Kytann Foret and Sam Piter, and the Portuguese Joaquim Chavez. These four athletes have excelled in all their series with great performances that guaranteed them their spot in the final. But it was Adur Amatriain who with a great wave of 8.50 points out of 10, the best of the day in his category, finished with a total of 15.17 points and rose with victory.
 
He added that “I am very excited to win at Doniños, I continue to be first in the Junior Qualifying Series ranking and now I will continue preparing and training hard for the following championships. It’s my last year on the Junior Tour and I want to make the most of it”.

Joaquim Chavez was finally the runner-up, with 13.07 total points, followed by Sam Piter and Kytann Foret, with 8.26 and 6.50 accumulated points and third and fourth place respectively.
 
After the dispute in the finals, the awards were given, an event attended by Antonio Cortés, Director of CSR of Gadisa, Jaime Perozo, sports sponsorships of Cabreiroá and Jorge Suárez, member of the municipal group Ferrol en Común.
 
Janire González Etxabarri has not only gone down in history as the champion of the first edition of the GADIS JUNIOR PRO FERROL 2021, but she has also won the CABREIROÁ BEST WAVE award, as she obtained the best wave in her category in the event, with 8.67 points out of 10. For his part, in the men’s category, this award went to Frenchman Sam Piter, who obtained an incredible 9.07 out of 10 points.
 
The GADIS JUNIOR PRO FERROL 2021 closes the doors of its first edition with great success, proving that the new generations of athletes are ready and motivated to conquer the international sports arena and that Galicia continues to be the preferred destination for European surfing.
