The action continues in the Praia de Doniños with the dispute of the fourth round in the men’s category and the third female. Competitors continue to demonstrate their high level of sport in a morning where conditions have continued to be impressive.
The Basque Yago Domínguez continues to advance unstoppably. Not only did he get the best wave of the event so far, with an impressive 9.33 out of 10, but also the highest total score in his category, with 15.83 points.
Following close behind, Frenchman Sam Piter had a spectacular wave of 9 out of 10 points. “The heat started a little slow, but it changed quickly, and I was able to get good scores,” he said.
Next to them, the Portuguese Martim Nunos and Afonso Antunes stood out with a total score of 15.43 and 15.33 respectively. Afonso Antunes also said that the waves in Doniños are similar to those he frequents in Portugal, so he feels comfortable and confident to continue advancing in the competition.
The women’s category has taken over with the third round, qualifying for the quarterfinals. Sisters Janire and Annette Gonzalez Etxabarri advance with great scores. “It’s not the first series in which we compete together, it’s a pleasure to compete again in Galicia,” they said. Janire González Etxabarri also got the best wave of her category so far, with 9.07 points out of 10.
Lucía Machado and Daniela Boldini from the Canary Islands also stood out and got the pass. “I am very happy to have passed to the quarterfinals, I got very good waves, the conditions of this championship are being excellent.”
