DID YOU KNOW ABANCA PANTÍN CLASSIC GALICIA PRO IS HEL WITHIN A PROTECTED AREA?

Pantín beach is included into a Special Conservation Area of the Natura 2000 Network, within the area named Costa Ártabra. We’ re in a protected natural area of high ecological value for the quality and good conservation of its sandy seabed, its cliffs, its internidal zones, its beach and dunes.

Pantín beach and its ecological value.

Due to the fact that the Natura 2000 Pantín beach area is divided, according to its values, in different manageable units. Its dunes, due to its environmental fragility, its included as “PROTECTED AREA”, and therefore with restricted access to the same. The beach is also a “PROTECTED AREA”, although leisure time and bathing is allowed there.

Events like ABANCA Pantín Classic Galicia Pro require environmental permission for its development.

Classic Surf Pro’s commitment.

We are making an effort so to make this event model in respect for the natural environment in which the event is held.

In this and the following editions, we are going to make an extra effort to introduce environmental commitment measures that allow us to better preservation of the protected environment of Pantín while the event serves as an element of DISSEMINATION and AWARENESS of the need to protect the dunes and the ecological wealth they refuge.

WE WANT THE XXXIII EDITION OF THE PANTIN CLASSIC to continue being a benchmark for an internationally recognized surfing event for its COMMITMENT TO CONSERVATION AND BIODIVERSITY AND AS A DEMONSTRATIVE EXAMPLE OF HOW SURF CAN HELP IN THE PROTECTION OF GALICIA’S DUNAR AND COASTAL SPACES.

  • We are already working to contribute our grain of sand so that next spring the PÍLLARA DE LAS DUNAS will grow up normally in the Pantín sandbank and get involved in the dissemination measures contemplated in the Conservation Plan for this species in Galicia.

  • We will promote the declaration and signalling of a Micro-reserve of threatened flora within the Pantín dunes, which pays special attention to protecting the populations of threatened and endangered species found in it.

  • We want the ABANCA Pantín Classic Galicia Pro to be an element of awareness of the need to preserve dunes.

CAN WE COUNT ON YOU?

REMEMBER: Access to the dunes is prohibited outside the authorized places to travel. It is not allowed to pluck plants or disturb wildlife.

A COMMITMENT: Help ABANCA Pantín Classic Galicia Pro be exemplary in protecting the biodiversity it hosts. Respect the signs and place yourself in the authorized places to observe the event, but NEVER AT THE TOP OF THE DUNES, NEVER CROSS THE DUNES.
