The event ensures the future of sport in the new generation.
Playa de Doniños, in Ferrol, has hosted today, Friday 23, the official presentation of the GADIS JUNIOR PRO FERROL 2021, of the Junior Qualifying Series Tour of the World Surf League (WSL).
During the act, it was emphasized the relevance of the celebration of this event, which is one of the most internationally renowned beaches for surfing, Playa de Doniños, and the great impact it represents as a promoter of sport between the younger generations.
José Ramón Lete Lasa, Secretario Xeral para o Deporte Galego, stated that Galicia has the best coasts for practising sport, and especially surfing and that this event is a fundamental tool to promote the main values of sport among the youngest.
Representing Gadis, Fernando Mosquera, expressed Gadisa’s commitment to sport and the values it represents. He also added that this event is of great help to instil those values of self-improvement, effort and humility in society.
Likewise, Catalina Lamas, head of Marketing and Commercial at Vithas Vigo, declared that “this event consolidates Galicia as a preferred destination for surfing at a European level“.
Román Diez, president of the Galician Surfing Federation, thanked the private institutions and public entities for the support for the realization of this event, which provides a great opportunity for young athletes to compete at a professional level on the beaches of their region.
Finally, the mayor of Ferrol, Ángel Mato, expressed how proud Ferrol is for hosting one of the five events of the Junior Qualifying Series Tour in Playa de Doniños, this being one of the benchmark beaches for international surfing. He also added that this event is not only a great motivation for local young athletes, but also acts as a promoter of the values of sport and surfing, fundamental in society.
In addition, we also had the attendance of the act of Antonio Golpe, Councilor for Culture and Sports; Jorge Suárez, spokesman for the Ferrol Municipal Group in Common; Alejandro Padilla, Councilor of the PP of Ferrol; and María do Mar López, Councilor for the Galician Nationalist Bloc.
