Vasco Ribeiro and Teresa Bonvalot joined the history of ABANCA PANTÍN CLASSIC GALICIA PRO 2020. Portuguese surfers were proclaimed champions this Saturday, August 22, after an intense finale in which Vasco Ribeiro competed against Basque surfer Aritz Aranburu and Teresa Bonvalot faced french surfer Pauline Ado.
Right from the beginning, Vasco Ribeiro positioned himself as the favorite for the win getting the two best waves of the championship with an incredible score of 9,83 and 9,70 points out of 10.
With his great performances, he made clear his determination to reach the finish line and commented that “he was ready to win” and that “attitude is essential when you are in the water and it all depends on knowing how to choose the correct wave to get the best scores”. He knew how to choose well since during the competition week the wave conditions were very favourable and allowed the surfers to show their best surf.
On the other hand, Teresa Bonvalot, who has competed in Pantín since she was thirteen, has excelled since the beginning of the competition and this year she was determined to win. She confessed that already in a previous edition she was close to victory and that this time she would achieve success. She also added that “this has been one of the best events I have participated in this year and I have loved surfing in Pantín with the good wave conditions we have had this week.”
Thanks to their victory, Vasco Ribeiro and Teresa Bonvalot will also be part of the Estrella Galicia Champions Forest. This initiative chooses an indigenous tree to plant in the vicinity of the event that symbolizes the victory of the winners. In this way, year after year an authentic Forest of Champions will be created, where the winners can leave a part of themselves in Pantín.
