Pantín, Valdoviño, August 28 – The second day of high-level competition at the only WSL event in Spain, held in Galician waters, continued with the progression of the men’s rounds. The women entered the competition mid-morning to contest two heats.
Throughout the day, the ocean’s intensity decreased, with smaller and slightly more disorganized waves compared to previous days. However, this allowed the female competitors greater maneuverability and more radical surfing.
Among the women, after eight heats, those advancing to the round of 64 and 32 include Noah Klapp, Ellie Turner, Charlotte Mulley, Lylia Ambert, Constanzia Simoes, Daniela Boldini, and Spaniards Sol Borelli and Uxue Domínguez.
On the other hand, competitors like Asturian Lucia Martiño and Aelaan Vaast, sister of recent Olympic gold medalist Kauli Vaast and one of the finalists in the 2023 Cabreiroá Junior Prol in Razo, have been eliminated from the contest.
Among the men, several heats took place early in the day, with young Spanish surfers like Sexan Gunning, Iker Trigueros, and Jacobo Trigo advancing.
THURSDAY, 29th – QS 3000 WSL
The competition resumes this Thursday, the 29th, at 10:00 AM, with new rounds and heats to make the most of the best conditions at the “wave factory.”
The weather also showed greater instability on Wednesday, with fog and drizzle clearing by the afternoon. However, this did not discourage the large crowd that continues to gather daily at the event to enjoy the activities parallel to the sports competition. From the skatepark to the “Espazo Corresponsable,” the leisure and dining areas, and even trying their luck at the sponsor spaces like Parque Ferrol, Ópticas Noroeste, or the store with the exclusive Vazva collection.
PANTIN SOUND
Starting tomorrow, Thursday, and continuing throughout the weekend until Sunday, September 1, there will be live music every afternoon with soloists and bands like Virginia Rede (29th), Smile, or Pucheros Atómicos (Friday, 30th), or DJ Mario Azurza (Saturday, 31st), Fuah, or DJ Caste, as part of the Pantin Sound lineup.
