The campions will be crowned tomorrow at Cabreiroá Pro Las Américas 2020

Ariane Ochoa and Nadia Erostarbe will battle at semifinals.
Canarian surfer, Jonathan González proves his game is on point.

Great excitement on the penultimate day of the Cabreiroá Pro Las Américas 2020. Today the quarterfinals were played in both the male and female category, and the strongest results to date were given, proof that all surfers are giving the best to reach the desired end.

Ariane Ochoa and Nadia Erostarbe, from the Vasque Country, ruled in their heats and granted their presence at the semifinals, where they will fight against the Portuguese Teresa Bonvalot, and the French Pauline Ado, respectively.

On the other hand, in the male category, Jonathan González, surfer from Tenerife, is with his top performances moves forward to semifinals, in which the passage to the final will be played with the Frenchman Thomas Debierre, who has also spotlight during the championship. The other couple that will face each other in the men’s semifinals is formed by Frenchman Gaspar Larsonneur and German Lenni Jensen.

Jonathan, who has been prevailing since the first day of competition, pointed out that today he has achieved his best scores of the event. His heat against Maxime Huscenot (France), has been the most difficult he has faced, but he started strong and fend off his opponent as he took the win into the semifinal. Not only stoked for having surpassed a rival as strong as Huscenot, but for reaching where he has, as he confessed he has not been on the semifinals for years.

Let’s see how the action goes on the semifinals since his rival Thomas Debierre is determined to win, as he said, last year he left just at the gates of the final. Still, athletes are getting ready for the next events thanks to Vithas, official medical support of the World Surf League in Spain.

Unfortunately, the other Canarian surfer, Luis Díaz couldn’t pass, but his performance has been one of the heaviest of the event. He told us that he felt great during the event, but that this last heat was very tight and finally Debierre left with the victory.

Tomorrow, Saturday, February 8, the semifinals and the final of Cabreiroá Pro Las Américas will be played in both categories, male and female, on a day in which great wave conditions and even better performances of the participants are expected.

But there will not only be surfing tomorrow, because the activities of Cabreiroá Eco-Logic will continue throughout the day accompanying surfers on their way to the grand finale.

The activities begin at 10:00 a.m. with a session of “Yoga for surfers”, followed by two workshops for the little ones where they will be taught the importance of recycling, starting at 12:00 p.m. Already in the afternoon, from 17:00 p.m. there will be different talks.

Don´t miss it!
