The Main Event will take place from August 29th to September 3rd at Pantín Beach.
The region of Ferrolterra, and with it all of Europe, begins the countdown to the 36th edition of the WQS 3000 by WSL.
Next Tuesday, August 29th, will witness the first elimination rounds of the classic international surf competition.
In the women’s category, we will have a strong team of Portuguese surfers including Yolanda Hopkins, Kika Veselko, Mafalda Lopes, and defending champion Teresa Bonvalot. They will have their work cut out against prominent international names of the moment such as Camila Kemp, Nahia Milhau, and Emily Gussoni.
Classic French participants like Pauline Ado and Maud Le Car will be there, along with a significant Spanish representation featuring Lucía Martiño, Garazi Sánchez, Janire González Etxabarri, Leticia Canales, Canary Island’s Laura Coviella, and the recent champion at Lacanau Pro, Nadia Erostarbe.
The men’s field with 125 registered participants is once again highly competitive, featuring a strong group of top surfers including Federico Morais, Maxime Huscenot, Kauli Vaast, and Joan Duru. We will also see the presence of North American Greyson Grant, Hawaiian Zac Hedemann, and Tahitian Jocelyn Poulou.
Among our local surfers, Adur Amatriain will strive to defend his title at Pantín after recovering from an injury suffered in South Africa, facing competition from Kai Odriozola, who comes with a recent win in Newquay. Classics like Aritz Aranburu, Luis Díaz, and Gonzalo Gutiérrez will once again be aiming for the top of the podium.
