Canarian surfers, standouts of the opening day.

Paolo Giorgi, a local surfer, got the best wave of the day with 8,67 points over 10.

The week starts with great conditions that along with the guaranteed sun of Arona, made of the first stop of the World Surf League (WSL) in Spain a whole success. 
 
The Canarian surfers have been the main protagonists in this opening day, with Cristian Portelli leading during the morning session, getting the best way of the morning, with a score of 8,50 (over 10), and Paolo Giorgi taking his place at the end of the day, earning the best way of the day with a score of 8,67 points. Thus, the Canarian surfers have guaranteed their continuity in the competition. 
 
Cherif Fall, from Senegal, was the surprise of the day getting the pass to the third round when he won his second heat, proving a heavy surf. Fall commented that he is so stoked of having the opportunity to surf here, where he feels like home and also regarding the great acceptance from the local surfers. 
 
The national athletes have also shown the variety of their talent since many of them can still be seen fighting for victory in the third round of Cabreiroá Pro Las Américas 2020. Although, both national and international athletes have taken full advantage of today’s day in the water. The closure of competition from the medical side has been positive without any serious health care from the official medical support of the event, Vithas. Where its head, Dr Paula Suárez, highlighted the professionalism of athletes and care before and after entering the competition.

Check-in for the women’s category, tomorrow February 4 will be at 8:00 a.m., to begin the competition at 8:30 a.m.; it will continue with the men’s category from 12:00 p.m.
