WSL and Pantín Classic place Galicia as an international destination for surfing.

Galicia has always been recognized by national surfers as a surfing paradise. With its infinite kilometres of coastline, good peaks of sand and rock; the quality of the waves and the hospitality of the Galicians. But this is not all we surfers are looking for. A good surfing trip is accompanied by eating well, resting in quiet places, enjoying landscapes that keep us awake… Surfers are lovers of travel and nature, and Galicia meets all the requirements for you to have years of anecdotes to tell about your surfing trip along these coasts.

At the tourist level, the profile of the tourist who loves surfing is also very interesting since we are people who usually travel many kilometres searching for the perfect conditions for surfing, but we also like to know the area, its inhabitants and enjoy its gastronomy. And share it on our social networks thus becoming great ambassadors of the places we visited. Besides, we also define our healthy lifestyle, overcoming and effort. In this sense, there are many similarities with what Galicia transmits.

And it was about us, surfer and our sports, what was spoken, among other things, on Wednesday, January 22 of January in Fitur, the International Tourism Fair that takes place in Madrid. During the presentation of the “GALICIA SURFING” brand, it was analyzed how an event of this nature positively affects the positioning of the Galician Autonomous Community as a worldwide Surfing Destination, assessing among other aspects the presence of the best world athletes, men and women, surfers of the World Surf League circuit.

This event that has been organized for over 30 years by the Playa de Pantín club and has been involved along with the WSL of the transformation of Galicia into an attractive pole of tourist currents from around the world.

The Madrid event was attended by Marcos Rodríguez and Andrés Otero representing the Playa de Pantín club together with Alberto González, mayor of Valdoviño, who commented on the positive economic and sporting effect it had for the region.

They were also backed by the Director of Tourism of Galicia, Nava Castro, who recognized this event as a major tourism promotion in Galicia worldwide. So this year it is again a must being in Galicia from August 17 to 23 where the waves, the show and the good vibes are guaranteed.
